Rules & Regulations

These are the official competition rules for the ONE Artist Jr. Competition (the “ONE Artist Jr.”). By completing the ONE Artist Jr. submission form, you are agreeing to these rules.

Competition Details 

ONE Artist Jr. has three components: 

1. Live Auditions: Thursday, April 16th, 2020 and Friday, April 17th, 2020

2. Artist Development Bootcamp: Saturday, April 18th, 2020

3. Semi-Final and Top Ten Finale Showcase: Sunday, April 19th, 2020

 

The Grand Prize

There will be one winner chosen.

The ONE Artist Jr.’s grand prize package includes a one song (produced, recorded, mixed and mastered) and an artist development package with Artist Alliance Company; vocal, performance and stage development training with Sing House Studios; a marketing and branding package including an artist website from FM Designs, and industry networking opportunities. 

Collectively, the Artist Alliance Company; Sing House Studios; and FM Designs (“ONE Artist Jr. Organizers”) will work with the ONE Artist Jr. winner to develop, write, produce, and record a single.

The prize package is not redeemable as cash and is non-transferable.

Participant Eligibility Criteria 

ONE Artist Jr. is open to Ontario applicants. 

ONE Artist Jr. is open to single vocalists, duos and full bands. All groups must have at least one vocalist to be eligible.

One Artist Jr. is open to anyone who is sixteen years and under. Participant must be sixteen years of age by April 19th, 2020 to qualify. Participant under sixteen must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to all activities related to ONE Artist Jr.

A mandatory live audition is required for all participants residing within a 250km radius of Ottawa, Ontario, which will take place in Ottawa, Ontario, on either April 16th or 17th, 2020. Participants residing outside of a 250km radius of Ottawa, Ontario may submit a video audition, so long as the video has been submitted, as further outlined on the ONE Artist Jr. website, before April 2nd, 2020.

Applicants must be available to attend the ONE Artist Jr. Bootcamp (Saturday, April 18th, 2020), the ONE Artist Jr. semi-finals and the top ten finale showcase (Sunday, April 19th, 2020) in Ottawa, Ontario.

All participants must complete the registration form on the ONE Artist Jr. website in full to be eligible. 

The audition song may not exceed four minutes in duration. Covers and original songs are accepted.

All music styles and genres are acceptable. 

You shall declare to ONE Artist Jr. in your registration form if you have any pre-existing contractual obligations that may prevent you from participating in ONE Artist Jr. or winning the grand prize, including but not limited to having a non-exclusive or exclusive agreement with a record label, distributor, publisher, representative (manager or agent), merchandise partner and/or other entertainment industry contractual obligations. If any such obligations should arise after you have registered, and before you have auditioned, you shall contact ONE Artist Jr. to advise them of your amended circumstances. 

If you are chosen as the ONE Artist Jr. winner, you must be available for up to three weeks in 2020 or 2021 to travel and work with Artist Alliance Company, Sing House Studios and FM Designs. Dates and schedules will be chosen at the discretion of the ONE Artist Jr. Organizers taking into account your availability. 

These eligibility requirements may be amended at any time by the ONE Artist Jr. Organizers in their sole discretion.

The ONE Artist Jr. Organizers, Lonestar Texas Grill and all industry partners related to the contest are not responsible for any injuries incurred at any activity related to ONE Artist Jr.

If you are accepted into the Semi-Finals you will be required to attend an artist Bootcamp at the cost of $100.00 which will include stage performance, vocal, marketing and branding/business, songwriting development.  Audience tickets for the Semi-Finals and Top Ten Finals will be available for purchase (optional) at the door the day of the showcase at $10.00 each.  Tickets are sold on a first come/first-serve basis.

 

Promotion

You must submit a headshot and biography to ONE Artist Jr., as further outlined on the ONE Artist Jr. website.

For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged and accepted, I hereby irrevocably grant the following rights to ONE Artist Jr. Organizers: (a) the right to photograph and record my audition and performance in the semi-finals and the top ten finale performance, for promotional purposes, worldwide, in perpetuity, in all media and forms of expression and communication now known or hereafter devised, and (b) the right to use my name, images, likeness and biographical material in connection with the promotion of ONE Artist Jr. and its activities. I confirm that I have the right to provide such rights.

 

Meet The Team

Chantal Hackett

Event Organizer & Vocal Coach

Chantal Hackett is the Founder of Sing House Studios, an award-winning artist and performance coaching studio, a professional singer and vocal coach that has coached hundreds of people over the past 18 years. She released three albums, her newest single “Love You” was released in June 2019 on all digital music platforms.

Chantal has performed at many reputable venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and at the United Nations in Vienna.  She has sang back-up vocals for various Juno nominated artists and for Universal Music artists and coached Michelle Treacy (2019 winner of CTV’s hit TV show, The Launch) for over five years.   She has hundreds of success stories under her belt.

In 2018 she won the Leading Women Building Communities Award from our MPP Marie-France Lalonde for the community leadership to improve the lives of girls and women in Ontario.  She is also a two time recipient of the Service Business of the Year award from the Orléans Chamber of Commerce. She is also a recipient of an award during Canada’s 150th Anniversary in 2017.  Through the #Canada150 awards, 150 Orléans residents who have given back to the community were recognized, including Chantal.  In June 2019, she was awarded the Forty Under 40 Award from the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade.

She has been a one of a kind mentor to her students and continues to work towards her goals as an established musician in the Ottawa Valley.

Jason Wilkinson

Jason has years of song writing, performing and production under his belt. He wrote and co produced his project Beyond The Falls debut album, and in 2008 the group was signed by former Clear Channel president Bill Scull to his personal label Cincinnati’s EO Records. The album “A Day In The Death Of” was distributed by Universal and garnered the bands single “A Day In The Death Of” massive exposure in the United States. It hit number one on radio in certain eastern markets, sending them on numerous tours across North America.

Jason also joined and played guitar for Jet Black Stare, a band that was signed to Island/Def Jam Records.  He toured across the United States with the band in 2009. Jet Black Stare had a top 10 song with “Ready To Roll” on the Billboard Heat Seeking Charts.  The song was used by the NFL, NBC for the Olympics, XBOX Nascar, NHLs Detroit Redwings and the Phoenix Coyotes, the WWE and the show Sons Of Anarchy (used the song In This Life)

Jason won Vancouver’s CFOX radio station’s prestigious “Seeds” contest twice. First in 2006 with Superbeing for the song Re-Run and second in 2010 with Beyond The Fall and the song “This Time Around.” Jason also wrote and co-produced the LA Independent Awards winning soundtrack to the 2008 indie film ” Cats Cradle.” He’s had songs in Hollywood movies and music used by NHL teams such as the Calgary Flames.

He’s written with Todd Kerns ( Slash, Age of Electric) 2018 CCMA Producer of the year nominee, Manicdown Music President Dan Swinimer ( Madeline Merlo, JoJo Mason, David James) Jeff Johnson ( Wes Mack, Meghan Patrick, George Canyon) Jeff Dawson ( Producer/Engineer for State Of Shock, Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland, Tal Bachman) Rod Black ( Jet Black Stare, Rod Black Band) and Dave Benedict (Default) .

Jason’s performing side saw him open for Sum41, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, The Arkells, Candlebox, Danko Jones, Steel Panther, AFI, Hot Hot Heat, Metric, Todd Kerns, Billy Talent, Mute Math, Mariana’s Trench, Hedley, I Mother Earth, Art Of Dying, 54-40, Junkhouse, The Headstones, George Lynch, Randy Bachman, Loverboy, Kim Mitchel, Honeymoon Suite, Sandbox, The Smalls, and many more.

He now owns and operates The Artist Alliance Company and Young, Wild & Free Records. The companies teach artists to empower themselves to learn how to properly launch a career, write great songs, work a single, market and brand their product, build a professional show with performance development and build a professional show.

Laura is an award winning R&B/POP Artist who grew up in London, On but now resides in Ottawa.  She has done multiple Original Solo tours in Ontario and a 3 Year stint throughout the states with nationally acclaimed touring act The McCartney Years led by mastermind Yuri Pool. In the last 2 years Laura had the opportunity to fly to France to sing the Canadian bilingual anthem at Maples for Vimy Tree Planting commemoration and Armistice held in Arras, France. Since then Laura has teamed up with Artist Alliance Company to start her next BIG project and has been crowned Social Media Guru and Artist Supervisor. In April Laura heads back into the studio to record her next hit single!

Corey J. Stone is an Ottawa based freelance makeup artist with 20 years of professional experience. He holds a certificate in make up design from Barrett Palmer International, and a certificate in hairstyling from Versailles Academy. Before becoming a freelance artist, Corey trained with theatrical make up and special effects (FX) artist Lizzie Ciesluk. Corey also worked as a beauty advisor specializing in make up application and skin care for Clinique, Make Up For Ever, Sephora, MAC, and Estee Lauder (where he was a special events make up artist). He is a guest lecturer in runway and in photo make up for Models International Management (M.I.M.); and in make up techniques for Versailles Academy.

Corey has extensive experience in make up for weddings (including destination weddings), make up for multimedia professional and promotional photo shoots, make up for runway modeling, theatrical and stage make up and make up for high definition video and film, including music videos. Corey’s corporate clients have included Bell Media (TSN, CTV, Majic 100, 580 CFRA), Ontario Tourism, Kingston Tourism, and Prince Edward County. He has also worked as assistant make up artist for made-for-TV movies produced in the Ottawa area by Zed Filmworks, Reel One Entertainment and NC Thrilling Films.

Corey has a passion for art and theatre and gives back to his community as volunteer make up designer for Ottawa community theatres Ottawa Little Theatre, and ToTo Too. He has also worked (with Sean Sisk) for the charity calendar project, Pets With Personalities. Corey’s many years of retail experience, combined with a gift for listening to and making clients comfortable, have given him a unique ability to understand what his clients really want.

Sandi Skye

Singer/Songwriter & Hair Stylist

Starting as an eleven year old with a microphone, she has turned her dream into a reality.

In her own words “Once I was given the opportunity to be on stage, and felt what it’s like to have your audience not only sing your words, but feel what you felt, I just couldn’t get enough. There is nothing that can compare to the feeling of that on-stage vibe”.

This drive and ambition has taken her from singing at local venues, to opening for acts like Blue Rodeo, while also taking her original song “Sew” international radio.

Working step-by-step with Ottawa/Nashville record label, she’s backed by a team of expert people, who have experience managing acts like Blake Shelton.

She’s a member of the Canadian Country Music Association, where she consistently is invited to attend seminars, progressing and widening her knowledge of the industry.

She lives by the phrase “Reach for the Skye”

Sean Sisk

Award winning photographer, Sean Sisk is a Entertainment photographer based in Ottawa, Canada. Sean has been lucky enough to have worked with many record labels and A&R companies such as RGK Entertainment and Sonic Entertainment; as well as numerous levels of musicians including the likes of Canada’s stars Great Big Sea, Matt Anderson, Dallas Green, Tim Hicks, and many others. He is Bell Media’s house photographer for Eastern Ontario, providing promotional photography and event coverage for TSN 1200, CTV Morning Live, CTV National, Pure Country Radio, Majic 100, and 580 CFRA.

Sean is also the official photographer for Ottawa’s RBC Bluesfest and CityFolk, as well as for The Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA’s). He has photographed The Junos, the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards (CMAO), the Grey Cup, and the Boots & Hearts Music Festival.

His experience in Ottawa’s music scene dates over twenty years, and he is thrilled to be on the board of judges for this season’s ONE Artist Competition.

Drummer/Monkey Junk

Matt Sobb is an Ottawa-based drummer who has been keeping the beat for over 30 years. He is most widely known as the drummer/co-founder/co-manager of 2x Juno Award-winning band MonkeyJunk – a band that has toured in every province in Canada, as well as parts of the USA and 8 countries in Europe. MonkeyJunk has released 5 albums on Stony Plain/Warner Music Canada and won a collective 21 Maple Blues Awards and four of those are for Matt as Drummer of the Year! Matt is also a busy freelance drummer who plays with local bands Dimestore Playboys and Uninvited Guests as well as many other Canadian and US based artists when available.

Matt has worked in many facets of the music industry. Most recently, he has taken on the role of Live Entertainment Coordinator at Overflow Brewing Company and has booked bands in Ottawa on and off for over 6 years. Matt has also worked as a clinician, coach, tour manager and promoter.

Matt proudly endorses LOS CABOS drumsticks, DREAM Cymbals, REMO drumheads and CASEY Drums.

Michelle Treacy

Singer/Songwriter

Full of raw emotion and authenticity, Ottawa native singer-songwriter Michelle Treacy first came to pop culture prominence with an impromptu duet with Lady Gaga during her ArtRave tour perfuming for a stadium of more than 20,000 people, which led to Sony Music signing the young artist. 

Her debut single “ARMAGEDDON” was released in 2016 followed by “COLOURS” both earning Michelle a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify naming her one of the “17 Artists To Watch”. 

Since, Michelle has gone on to win the second season of CTV’s hit series, The Launch where she collaborated with musical heavyweights Bebe Rexha and Nile Rodgers on her hit song, “Emotional”.
